2002 Changing Society by Chris Davies

Disabled journalist Chris Davies interviewed 17 individuals who played a significant role in the first 50 years of the disability charity Scope from 1952 to 2002. His personal history starts from his education at the Spastics Society’s Thomas Delarue School, through his work for Disability Now magazine to his time as a trustee of Scope.

2002 Can You Manage Stares? by Bill Hargreaves

When Bill Hargreaves was born in Australia in 1919, he weighed just two and a half pounds. His parents were told that, because he had cerebral palsy, he would ”never walk or work or wed”. Bill’s remarkable life defied the doctor’s diagnosis.
